KOCHI: Over two months after the KSEB office building opposite the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium was evacuated for its demolition, the officials concerned are yet to flex a muscle to initiate the process. The Kaloor Electrical Section Office, which had been functioning in the old building, had been shifted to a temporary facility in the Stadium complex to make way for the demolition process. This exercise is part of a project to construct a new 3-storied building to house the Kaloor section office and an office for the Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (APDRP).According to sources, the KSEB has not even sent a proposal of the project to the concerned authorities in Thiruvananthapuram. “The project can go ahead only if the proposal is approved by the head office at Thiruvananthapuram. As of now, the it is yet to be prepared,” said a highly placed official with the KSEB. However, KSEB Executive Engineer K A Shaji said that the KSEB Chairman has given the oral go-ahead for the project. “The Chairman had visited the place recently and has asked us to go ahead with the project. It has been decided to submit the proposals for both the demolition process and the construction of the new building. The proposal for the new building is in its designing phase and will soon be submitted. The project is expected to be completed within 2 years of its commencement,” he said.It was in November last year that the Kaloor Section office had shifted to the Stadium due to continuous waterlogging and lack of proper facilities at the old building.
