Koodankulam talk likely in TN Cabinet Monday

CHENNAI: A meeting of the State Cabinet on Monday, chaired by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, is expected to discuss in detail the ongoing imbroglio over the commissioning of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP).According to sources, the Cabinet is expected take its line on the KKNPP issue in the light of the submission of the report by State Experts Panel and the subsequent meeting of the Chief Minister with a team of the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) led by its coordinator S P Udayakumar. The meeting is also expected to take stock of the power situation, as load shedding had been witnessing an increasing trend due to the severe power crunch faced by the State. The Cabinet would also seek additional power from the national grid. Another key decision would involve the purchase of power from other states. The Cabinet, say sources, is also expected to discuss fund allocations ahead of the annual budget.
