In addition to display and sale of coir products, an aquashow and a Nadan food fest are also on.“A new set of coir machineries which are being used in other states are on display. Also we have various types of geo-textiles. To ensure viewers’ participation various competition have been organised. Coir pith, considered as wastage can be used for various productive purposes. The board is currently looking at options for using the coir pith in addition to exporting it,” said Coir Board chairman G Balachandran.SEMINARSAs part of the exhibition, international seminars are also being organised here. On Monday Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the seminar on ‘Coir futuristic technologies - Vision 2020’. Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar will inaugurate the seminar on ‘Sustainable development throughnew technologies’ on Tuesday. In the afternoon there will be a coir investors’ meet.Veteran leader K R Gowri Amma will inaugurate the seminar on ‘Women Empowerment through Coir Industry’ on Wednesday. ‘Sangamam’, a mega show by Soorya Krishnamurthy at 6 pm will be a special attraction.
