KOCHI: Kerala Liquor Prohibition Committee (KLPC) has decided to observe a hunger strike on January 30, if the Government failed to implement the ban on liquor sale in regional areas. In a camp organised by them in Kochi on Sunday, the KLPC alleged that the Excise Department has failed to control liquor sales on regional level.KLPC members said the close nexus between the excise officials and the liquor barons has led to ineffective implementation of the existing laws. The KLPC committee demanded that a law should be immediately constituted in this regard. To promote this cause, a hunger strike will be observed from January 30. Women and children will also participate in the strike.
