Berlin: Germany manager Jurgen Klinsmann on Thursday begged the media to respect the privacy of his family.
Klinsmann, 41, has been heavily criticised - both by the media and Bundesliga managers - for jetting straight back to his Californian home after international matches.
The former German international issued an appeal "in the name of all the members" of his family to the media to refrain from "the publication of written or televised information, or photos of a private or personal nature."
In a statement published by the German football federation (DFB) Klinsmann threatened that action would be taken against those who did not comply with this request.
DFB spokesman Harald Stenger added: "It's a polite but clear request by Klinsmann to respect his private life."
The plea comes following reports from the United States concerning Klinsmann's circle of family and friends.
Klinsmann, who had no previous managerial experience, took over from Rudi Voller after Euro 2004 when Germany failed to win a single match.
Hosts Germany play Costa Rica in the World Cup opener in Munich on June 9.
