CHENNAI: Senior IAS officer D Karthikeyan will be returning as Commissioner of Chennai Corporation. He replaces PWC Davidar after a gap of about four months. Davidar took over as the Commissioner of Chennai Corporation on December 1, 2011.Karthikeyan is at present functioning as the Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (TNCSC). Davidar will take over as the Chairman and Managing Director of the TNCSC.Davidar, after taking over as Commissioner of the expanded Corporation of Chennai, said restoring battered city roads to motorable condition within 10 days and evolving a permanent solution towards waterlogging problems during the rainy season would be his top priorities. To alleviate flooding in the city in future, Davidar had sought suggestions from the public through email address — [email protected] — and through specially designed complaint centres at zonal offices for a permanent solution towards the perennial problem. However, things did not change to a great extent and this seems to be the reason for Davidar’s transfer.Karthikeyan was appointed as Commissioner of Chennai Corporation on September 28, 2010, during the previous DMK regime.
