BANGALORE: Aged policemen, lax checks, no CCTVs, defunct metal detectors and scanners. This is the scene at the Karnataka High Court, though there have been previous incidents of security breaches. Anybody wearing a black gown gets easy access into the court.Only last July, Rajappa, an  advocate, stabbed his colleague Naveena in front of court hall number 4. Even this has failed to shake the authorities from stupor, for a few advocates are known to carry loaded revolvers to the court. There are five gates leading to the High Court and only the main gate has a metal detector, through which few pass and the police sentries there too do not seem to be bothered.Last month, Chief Justice J S Khehar told advocate-general Ashok Haranahalli that it is dangerous to allow people to carry bags into court halls and suggested depositing them at the entrance. After Khehar’s order, police began checking bags. But recently, an advocate abused a woman constable who insisted on checking his bag.But on Wednesday, after the Delhi blast, security personnel were seen checking bags but allowed them inside the court room.President of Karnataka High Court Bar Association Putte Gowda said, “Authorities wake up only when there is a terror attack. It is not just police who are responsible for security. Advocates must co-operate too.”Assistant Commissioner of Police K V K Reddy, in charge in the High Court, said there was enough security at the court.
