GULBARGA: Former MLA Kailash Patil, son of former chief minister late Veerendra Patil, rejected his nomination as secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). In a letter to AICC observer to Karnataka Madhusudan Mistry, Kailash — hailing from Chincholi taluk — stated that his appointment was a “humiliation” to him. When all out efforts are being made to woo the Lingayat community back into the Congress fold, he averred that his services could have been used effectively by elevating him to a suitable position as he too belonged to the same community.Patil stated that he did not deserve the demotion in the party hierarchy and was hence refusing the nomination. The former MLA stated that he had served as KPCC general secretary during 1997-99 and was MLA from Chincholi constituency during 2004-08. Kailash Patil could not contest the 2008 elections as Chincholi constituency was delimited to a reserved constituency.
