THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The proposed K R Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts, for which the foundation stone was laid way back in 2006, has been revived with the government considering to set up it as an international centre in Asian Aesthetics which will be a first of its kind in the country. The proposed Institute is included in the one year programme of the government and its office will start functioning at Thiruvananthapuram shortly. Filmmaker Shaji N Karun has discussed the project with the Chief Minister and it is likely to be announced in the next Cabinet meeting. Shaji N Karun said that the Institute will not be a copy of the Pune Film Institute. A concept will be developed for providing training in Asian Aesthetics, which is now not conceived anywhere in India. “Film industry will also be part of the course. The idea is that the Institute will be a learning platform in all areas related to arts, music, culture, science and architecture,’’ he said.  The Institute will be on the lines of  Indian Institute of Technology or Indian Institute of Management.
