New Delhi: After a blockbuster like 'Rowdy Rathore' which earned more than Rs 150 crore at the box office, everyone had high expectations from their latest film ‘Joker’. Directed by choreographer Farah Khan’s husband Shirish Kunder, the film had an extremely low start.
Latest media reports claim that ‘Joker’ opened to 10-20 per cent occupancy in multiplexes. More people were spotted at the single screen theatres. Apart from ‘Joker’, no other big budget film was released this Friday. Then why did the film failed to get a good opening?
The film has earned bad reviews from almost all the critics, which means the journey will be tougher for ‘Joker’ now. Akshay Kumar played the lead in Shirish Kunder’s previous directorial venture ‘Jaan-E-Mann’. Despite the failure of ‘Jaan-E-Mann’, Akshay Kumar agreed to work with Shirish again.
However, Akshay Kumar completely stayed away from the ‘Joker’ promotions. As being reported, Akshay was not satisfied with output of the film as this was not something he was promised initially. After watching the film, you may understand why Akshay refrained from promoting ‘Joker’.
Visual effects are the highlight of ‘Joker’ and the plot doesn’t have much to offer. So it’s just Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha’s chemistry that can work for the films now.
