Last night Colors channel had two shows back to back featuring veteran actress Rekha promoting her new film 'Super Nani'. Between 9 and 12, Rekha, wearing her golden Kanjeevaram, red lipstick and a dash of sindoor, took over the channel and spoke more about her past glory than the film she was out to promote.

First up was 'Bigg Boss', where the actress made an entry with the song 'Pardesiya' from her hit film 'Mr Natwarlal' and coyly made heart signs with her hand and blew kisses to the audience like the absolute diva she is. But since she was on the show to promote 'Super Nani', it was completely flummoxing why she would choose a song from the 80s.

While I sat in anticipation as to what would unfold in the next one hour and how the actress would interact with the 'Bigg Boss' contestants and perhaps make them do a task or two, in reality- the evening turned out to be a bore of a session between Salman Khan and the actress reminiscing about past glory. Khan revealed how he used as a teenager follow her while she was out for her morning walk in the 80s. The story was narrated by the two stars in three different ways. Clearly the two only shared this one memory together.

Next the actress danced with Khan to a song from 'Dabangg' where Rekha, wearing heavy jewellery that would give Bappi Lahiri a complex, tip toed around the stage in high heels, dancing tentatively with Khan. She then delivered her own version of the now-famous 'thappad se darr nahi lagta...' dialogue from Dabangg and said 'pyaar se bhi darr nahi lagta, pyaar toh main beinteha kar sakti hoon' and turned a two line dialogue into a monologue on love - while Khan stood there not knowing how to react, with a half smile plastered on his face.

Perhaps sensing that the monologue was making the studio audience restless, Rekha decided to rehash a rumour that most of the industry and media has exploited enough in gossip columns and interviews. She said 'darr sirf Big B se lagta hai...Big Boss hai'.

But even then, that perhaps was the only high point of the entire one hour show. She called Khan 'Man Baba' (no one knows or cares why) and said he was her 'bachcha' and her favorite. She also said 'aww' aloud as a picture of a young 'Man Baba' flashed on screen.

The housemates weren't left high and dry though. They were given a glimpse of the diva and like good school children they organized a special 'karyakram' and sang, danced and wooed her with songs and dialogues from her films.

Did you say 'Super Nani'? What 'Super Nani'? Oh yes, that film she came to promote. Five minutes before her exit, Sharman Joshi and Shweta Kumar, her co-stars, joined her on the stage to speak two lines from the film. Rekha did visit the house and very blatantly ignored Puneet Issar. As the time of her exit approached she seemed to have an epiphany and yelled 'Super Nani!' and walked out.

The show finally ended one and half hours later with TV actress Deepshikha Nagpal getting eliminated.

After one and a half hour of Rekha on Bigg Boss, it seems she took the show to 'Comedy Nights With Kapil'. With host Kapil Sharma gushing over her beauty and the actress blushing, she did manage to coyly mention Big B in some other context.

What's your reaction?
