BANGALORE: Though out of power for more than a month, former CM BS Yeddyurappa continues to have a vice-like grip over chief minister’s office (CMO). This could be easily made out by the fact that almost all the staff including officers appointed by him continue to function in the same positions in the CMO.Right from the CM’s principal secretary ISN Prasad, secretary M Lakshminarayan to the office assistants and personal staff, all the staff who served under Yeddyurappa have been continued by his successor D V Sadanand Gowda.Even the non-official appointees like CM’s political secretary B J Puttaswamy, economic advisor K V Raju, media advisor R P Jagadish and host of others who were hand-picked by Yeddyurappa continue to hold the same posts in the Gowda regime. More interestingly the private staff numbering about 50 appointed by Yeddyurappa on contract basis have also been made to continue in the CMO and his home office.“After being forcefully made to step down as the CM, Yeddyurappa now wants to rule from the back-door. The CM has not been given a free hand even to pick a D Group employee of his choice,” said a senior minister who refused to be named. The free run of Yeddyurappa’s men in the CMO office seems not to end soon as the department of personnel and administrative reforms had recently issued a formal order continuing the services of 127 staff of the CMO including those appointed on contract basis.
