Bhubaneswar has not seen anything as big as this - India vs Pakistan in the FIH Men's Champions Trophy semi-final.
Tickets are at a premium, with fans queuing up at the box office outside the Kalinga Stadium here since 8 a.m. on Friday. The serpentine queues extend to as long as over a kilometer with the local police finding it difficult to control the crowd.
Even people carrying the identity proofs to collect the tickets after booking online hadn't reached the counter after standing for close to three hours under the sun.
"We are standing here since 8 a.m. but there is no hope as the tickets have been sold out. We are trying to get the tickets for the final and hope India make it to the title clash. Otherwise, we won't come for the final," said one fan.
The few lucky ones who got the tickets were happy to pose with it. "I have got this Rs. 1000 ticket, but it's worth a million for me. I will be able to watch India vs Pakistan, something we haven't ever seen in Bhubaneswar. There has never been a tournament of this magnitude hosted ever in Bhubaneswar."
"IPL takes place in Cuttack, but nothing this big ever in Bhubaneswar," said another local fan.
The match is scheduled for 19:30 IST on Saturday.
