Indian spikers beat Belgium in a must-win Pool E match.

Pune: Gurinder Singh starred in India's thrilling 3-2 win over Belgium as the hosts reached the semifinal of the FIVB Men's Junior World Championship (U-21) volleyball tournament in Pune on Thursday night.

In a must-win Pool E match, the Indian spikers bounced back from a game down to beat Belgium in a hard-fought battle that lasted more than two hours.

Having finished second in Pool E, India set up a semifinal clash with Pool F winner Brazil.

Gurinder was India's ace spiker by scoring 26 points out of 67 attempts followed by Naveen Raja Jacob who scored 20 points.

For Belgium, Kevin Klinkenberg contributed 21 points, while Pieter Verhees and Sam Deroo chalked up 18 and 16 points, respectively.

Belgium won nearly every statistical category with slim margins of 60-59 in spikes, 14-11 in blocks and even at 3-all in aces.
