'Illegal' Residential-Cum-Shopping Complex Built on 20 Bigha Land in Greater Noida: Report
A News18 Hindi report said that although authority approval is mandatory for construction in Haldwani village of Greater Noida area, no records exist for this particular project

A prominent builder based in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar has reportedly constructed a large residential complex and shopping centre on approximately 20 bighas of land in Greater Noida’s Haldwani village without obtaining approval from the Greater Noida Authority.

According to a News18 Hindi report, while obtaining plan approval from the authority is mandatory for construction in that area, it has been claimed that no such record exists for this project.

Residents near Haldwani village claimed they usually get their plans approved by the authority for their construction. However, the authority insisted that no provision exists for approving plans for construction in the village, the report mentioned.

This has led to questions about the existence of the large complex and the authority’s lack of oversight regarding construction on Khasra numbers 672, 673, and 674.

It has been reported that the authority’s employees regularly patrol the area and take swift action against unauthorized construction. However, their failure to notice such a large-scale project suggests potential involvement of Greater Noida Authority officials in this illegal activity. This has led to the question how a developer from Delhi can construct such a complex without raising any red flags.

Attempts to contact relevant Greater Noida Authority officials for clarification on this matter were unsuccessful as none of the officers responsible answered phone calls.
