Honour killing? Bihar couple killed in Punjab
The girl was an upper caste Brahmin while the boy belonged to backward Yadav caste.

Phagwara: In a case of suspected honour killing, a young migrant couple was on Thursday found brutally murdered in the farm house of a nearby village head, police said.

They were identified as Khushboo Kumari (19) and Kamlesh Kumar Yadav (22), both hailing from Majiana village of Bihar's Jehanabad district, the police said.

When contacted Phagwara SP Kanwaljit Singh Dhillon said it seems to be a case of honour killing.

While the girl was an upper caste Brahmin, the boy belonged to backward Yadav caste. Their relationship was not acceptable to the girl's family as they belonged to different castes.

Both had developed a love affair while in the village and later ran away and did court marriage.

They reached village Maheru in Phagwara district recently and started living in a room built for tubewell in the farm of Amarjit Singh, sarpanch (head) of a nearby village.

What's your reaction?
