New Delhi: Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who is returning to action with 'Singham' after making quirky comedies like 'Golmaal' and 'All The Best', says the Hindi version is completely different from the original film in Tamil.
The 38-year-old director started his career at the age of 15 as an assistant director with Kuku Kohli on the film 'Phool Aur Kaante' starring Ajay Devgn.
"I am making an action film after a gap of 20 years. I was thinking of making typical Hindi action film again because in our industry action films are often misunderstood as Chinese stunt films," Shetty said.
"When I was shooting for 'Golmaal 3', I watched Tamil 'Singham' and was quite fascinated with the concept. I discussed it with Ajay and have made the film by changing the script 70 per cent of it," he said.
The film, set to release this Friday, was shot in 136 odd days and unlike the latest Bollywood fad, the film has got no item numbers.
"I don't make romantic films so I thought not to add any romantic item number into it. Moreover, we have shot the film in just five month's time, I decided to concentrate only on the action part of the film.
"But I must say that due to the advent of technology, it has become quite easy to make action films now as compared to the earlier days where actors used to get hurt while doing the stunts," said Shetty.
