Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the Khammam district collector to visit the villages with medical teams and take remedial measures to check the reported outbreak of viral fevers in the district.
The officials visited the village, conducted a thorough enquiry on the outbreak and submitted a report to the chief minister in this regard.
It was found that one patient, Dosapati Rajyalakshmi (33), was suffering with fever from July 1. She was admitted in Vijayawada and had died last week due to pneumonia and other complications that resulted in a cardiac pulmonary arrest.
J. Satyanarayana (54), who was admitted with fever at Narayana superspeciality hospital in Khammam, also passed away last week. The cause of his death was jaundice, hypertension, diabetics and multi-organ failure.
Medical officers of primary health centre, Erragunta have been conducting health camp from last week at the village. Of the 68 blood smears collected, 15 blood smears were tested for malaria through rapid diagnostic kits and three were found Rapid Diagnostic Test positive.
On July 30, of the 32 blood smears collected, five were found to be malaria positive (PF) and were given immediate treatment. A total of 131 minor ailments were treated till Wednesday up to 1.00 p.m. Five deputed medical officers have been working round the clock.
On Tuesday, a team comprising four medical officers and 15 para medical personnel was deployed and they have been conducting health camps and fever surveys.
The camp will continue till all the fever cases have been detected. 2000 chlorine tablets were also distributed.
The Fixed Day Health Service (104) vehicle will be shifted to Annapureddypalli village. Lab technicians with microscopes will also be arranged for the village which will help examine and detect fevers on the spot. Door to door surveys by para medical staff for the detection of cases and health education to community regarding vector-borne diseases is also being undertaken.
