New Delhi: The Giridih district court has asked former Union minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) President Shibu Soren to make a personal appearance on January 24 in the triple murder case of 1974.
However, the Tihar jail authorities refused to send him as the production warrant was not served in proper format. Now with a new warrant, Shibu Soren will appear before the court.
Earlier, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi sessions court for the murder of his private secretary in 1994.
Soren’s political career has never suffered from a shortage of controversies.
Soon after becoming a Union minister in 2004, a 30-year-old case of minority massacre in Jamtara district came back to haunt him.
He escaped through a immunity clause in the Constitution in the JMM bribery scandal but then lost his minister’s post twice.
