Ghaziabad: The horrific gangrape and brutalisation of a 23-year-old in Delhi on December 16 has left India shocked and scared. But cases of rapes still continue and police are still insensitive to the victims.
In Ghaziabad, just a few kilometres from Delhi, a rape accused attempted to kill the victim after he came out of the jail. When mediapersons tried to contact the police, senior officials suggested them not to take up the matter.
"Leave it friends! The Delhi gangrape case is already in the news. This girl had got married and the accused was then sent to jail. By the time he came out of the jail she had remarried," Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prashant Kumar reportedly said. The SSP is responsible for law and order of the entire district but his statements show that he believes that the girl is responsible for the incident.
The victim has alleged that she was attacked by Rishi who raped her a year ago. After he returned from jail he tried to kill her too. Four years ago the accused had raped the victim. He was jailed in the case. Meanwhile, the girl got married and when the accused came out of the jail, he attempted to kill her. Police have registered a case but still not taken any action against the accused.
