Mumbai: Richard Gasquet of France won the $416000 Kingfisher Airlines Open singles title beating Oliver Rochus of Belgium in Mumbai on Sunday.
Gasquet, 21-year-old and top seed at the tournament, was the clear favourite and it stayed that way from the first set.
The first set was a no contest and the 20-year-old Gasquet winning it easily 6-3.
Though the sixth seed put up some fight in the second set but soon Gasquet was up 5-3 and held on to his serve to win the title in one hour and 25 minutes.
Rochus had emerged triumphant in their last meeting in 2003.
With the win Gasquet pocketed his first title of 2007 and fifth overall. He also got $65,850 and 175 points for the win.
The 26-year-old Rochus received $35,500 and 120 points.
