Hyderabad: Hundreds of banners which misspelt Gandhi as'Gandi' were removed on Saturday after AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh noticed the faux pas.
Be it Mahatma Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi, the spelling was the same and the mistake escaped the eyes of every Congress leader as all of them were busy with the plenary arrangements.
'Gandi to Sonia, Peace is Idea' said one banner while another went 'Rajiv Gandi's Schemes enable the states to prosper.'
Digvijay, who was the first to notice the mistake, chided the Congress leaders.
He told them it was important to uphold party principles and respect the leaders. Later all the banners were removed.
He told the Congress activists incharge at the place, that arrangements did not mean drowning the city with Congress flags and banners and warned them to take care to ensure that such blunders did not occur.
