BANGALORE: BWSSB, Urban Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Sureshkumar on Monday directed the BWSSB officials to fix a standard price for installation of water meters in residential areas. Responding to complaints pouring in at the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on the exorbitant rates charged by contractors and plumbers to fix water meters while giving water connections etc, he said, “The contractors are found collecting a huge sum from people. Fix a standard price for the installation of meters. This will increase the credibility of the board,” he added. He was speaking after reviewing the initiative taken up by the BWSSB to address consumers’ complaints on Monday. “There is an increase in the complaints related to drainage blocks and over-flow of manhole following rains. The timely redressal of these problems with the existing 76 jetting machines will be difficult,” he stated and directed the officials to get 30 more jetting machines.
