New Delhi: Five NRI's have made it to the top 10 list of Britain's richest, with steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal leading the pack with an estimated £14.8 billion fortune.

Incidentally Mittal, whose company is the world's largest of steel, also tops the list of the richest Indians in the world.

Twenty of the 54 billionaires featured in the Sunday Times rich list are those who arrived in Britain from other countries and the number of billionaires this year is up by 14.

The list includes the Hinduja brothers at the number seven position with £ 3.6 billion and Mumbai-born David and Simon Reuben at eighth place.

The list also includes 30 more NRIs including Lord Swaraj Paul, who have fortunes worth £ 60 million to their name.

Along with NRIs there are many Russians and Scandinavians in the list as well.

Another table in the list - the 50 richest people of the world - features Lakshmi Mittal at number seven, the Ambanis at number 30 and Azim Premji at number 32.

Philip Beresford, who has compiled the Rich List every year since 1992, said on Sunday that the combined wealth of Britain's richest 1,000 people has soared by over £ 50 billion in a single year to £ 300.9 billion.

The list also records the rise of other prominent Indian-born businessmen in UK including Anurag Dikshit who owns an online poker company, George and Mike Jatania who deal in beauty products and online gambling millionaire Vikrant Bhargava.
