KOCHI: A petition was filed before the Kerala High Court seeking issuance of a directive to quash the Lokayukta report on the anomalies in the posting of Grade-II Assistants in Kerala University. The petitioner, V Jayaprakash, former Pro-Vice- Chancellor(PVC) of the university, submitted that he was falsely implicated in the case. The Upa Lokayukta had recommended legal proceedings against him for showing favouritism while selecting candidates for the post.He submitted that he was the PVC from May 2, 2005 to April 30, 2009.In fact, the interview for the post of assistants was conducted by a selection committee consisting of the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and four Syndicate members, in which he was not included.Allegations against him was that he had a role in the disappearance of answer sheets of the written examination conducted for the posts.“It was not true as I was not involved either in the written examination or the interview,” he submitted.“The answer sheets were not sent to me.The Registrar had been authorised to keep it in safe custody,” he added. The petition points out that Jayaprakash was the victim of a conspiracy between former VC M K Ramachandran Nair and the Registrar. The court will consider the petition on Tuesday.
