New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir police crime branch is likely to submit its report on the shocking examgate scandal involving a Congress minister on Tuesday. Several education officers have been questioned and documents seized in connection with the case.
It was alleged that Education Minister Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed used the help of state board officials to write his foster son's answers in class 10 board exams.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was under heavy pressure to take action against the minister.
Imam Sauban, Peerzada Sayeed's son, had allegedly passed his Class X exam two years ago with help from Board of School Education officials.
Imam has passed the exams with flying colours, something which protestors say, is highly suspected. The demand for an independent probe is becoming louder.
"The minister should step down and be arrested and questioned. The case should be handed over to the CBI, which is a transparent organisation. The centre should act now," said Sheikh Rashid, a state legislator.
Over the past two years, separate investigations by the Board of School Education and the state vigilance commission yielded no results, ostensibly due to pressure from Peerzada.
