THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More emphasis will be given on nonconventional energy parks and logistics parks by Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) to make the state more competitive when the new industrial policy of the UDF Government comes into effect.
To ensure better infrastructure for the industrial projects, Kinfra will also increase its land bank share in various parts of the state where industrial projects are viable. There will be a provision for world class infrastructure so that investments could be easily brought into the state.Kinfra managing director S Ramnath told Express that solar power plant would come up at Palakkad in six acres from where one MW of solar power could be generated.

This demonstration programme at a cost of `22 crore will be implemented with the financial assistance of Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. A NonConventional Energy Park will also be set up in Palakkad in 50 acres. The project is aimed at giving a fillip to renewable energy generation, which will be a manufacturing and research hub for equipment used in setting up of green power facilities. The estimated cost of the project is `20 crore. The employment generated from it will be 2,000 in three years with an investment of `300 crore.

Knowledgebased industries and servicebased industries constitute 60 per cent of our GDP, which also is in line with the new industrial policy of the government. Kinfra has 152 acres in its land bank at various parts of the state.
