BHUBANESWAR: The State Government will build saline embankments measuring about 140 km along the coast to thwart the menace of tidal inundation. The Water Resources Department is busy preparing a design for this. The embankments will be three and a half meters in width and measure about 140 km, spread in different districts. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department on Friday reviewed the progress of the National Calamity Risk Mitigation Project, funded by the World Bank. Under the project, 80 multi-purpose cyclone shelters are proposed to be constructed.
