CHENNAI: Retired Lt Col K Ramaraj, who allegedly shot dead 13-year-old Dilson on July 3 last, was refused bail by the Madras High Court on Monday.“This is not a fit case for granting bail,’’ Justice G Rajasuriya observed while dismissing his bail application. The judge observed that the technical points raised by his senior counsel A Natarajan were matter to be dealt with during trial. This court could not simply use those points in favour of the accused, arrested on July 10, the judge added. The judge also observed that, “the trial court is seized of the matter and it is expected to conduct the trial as expeditiously as possible and in the meantime, I am fully aware of the fact that the court is not expected to hustle and therey (receive) the criticism– justice rushed is justice crushed and justice hurried is justice buried.’’The victim was unambiguously, unassailably and indisputably on the lower stratum of life, whereas the accused was on the higher social stratum and if released on bail, there was a likelihood of him hampering investigations. It was also a case where there was vitually a singularly singular case since no one would have come across the case where a boy was shot by an ex- army official, the judge said.
