Mumbai: A cross placed in front of a nondescript grocery store in downtown western Mumbai has become a miracle of sorts after people saw water oozing out of it.
People began to flock to the shop to gather the water dripping out of the cross after the word spread that the water has healing powers.
The cross was spotted dripping water on Sunday (November 8).
Residents said the cross was not connected to any source of water and so termed it as a 'miracle.'
"Yesterday when I was working, I saw drops of water falling from this cross. So I kept a glass upstairs to collect the water. I am giving water to all the devotees. A lot of such people had come yesterday. A person could not see properly. I gave him water. Now, his eye is fine. Another sick person had come from J J hospital. I gave him water. He is doing fine now," said the shopkeeper, Arvind D'souza.
It was Janardan Waghmare, a local, who started the buzz saying the water had healing powers as it improved his eyesight.
"I applied this water on my eyes. Then I went off to sleep. When I came here, I could see clearly. Earlier, I could see the cars clearly. I don't know whether this is science or miracle. For me, this is a miracle. There was another person. He was coughing badly. After drinking this water, he was relieved," said Waghmare.
Hordes of people who gathered at the cross collected water in bottles and said it was pure and tasted like sweet water.
