New Delhi: In probably first of its kind case, Delhi Police registered a case of theft after a Kanpur-based man filed a complaint that his brand new shoes were stolen from outside southeast's Delhi's famous Kalkaji temple.
After registering an FIR, police has detained two persons in connection with the theft that took place on Sunday morning.
The victim in the case is Anshul Gupta, who is in Delhi with his family to visit his relatives.
"On Sunday he visited Kalkaji temple with his wife and son. Before entering the temple premises, they deposited their shoes at a shoe counter outside the temple. He made a point to tell the attendant that his shoes were newly purchased," said a police official.
However, when family returned after half an hour and gave the token to take back the deposited footwears, the attendant returned only two pairs of shoes.
When Gupta asked for his shoes, the attendant informed him that the pair is missing.
Despite an hour-long search, the attendant could not find them.
Gupta then made a PCR call which reached the spot and took him to the police station as he said that he wanted to file a complaint for his stolen shoes.
"A case has been registered at Kalkaji police station and investigations are on," the official said.
Police has detained two persons in connection with the case.
