New Delhi: An Akali Dal leader, who had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking government takeover of BCCI, has claimed to have received a letter threatening to eliminate him and his family and sought police protection. Delhi police has received a complaint in this regard from Kuldip Singh Bhogal, All India Organising Secretary, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).
Bhogal, who is also the President of Association for Social and Humanitarian Affairs (ASHA), had filed a complaint at Sun Light police station in South-East Delhi claiming that he has received a letter on June 18 threatening that his entire family would be eliminated. Bhogal has named Mohammad Khurra and Mukesh in his complaint. These two names are there on the letter, police said.
Station House Officer (SHO) of Sun Light police station Sunil Mittal said, "We have received a complaint from Bhogal and we are investigating it. I can't say much about it as it is a sensitive case." Bhogal has also demanded security cover from the Delhi police in his complaint.
The Akali Dal leader has sent a copy of the letter along with a complaint to Police Stations at Sunlight Colony and Hazrat Nizamuddin and Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar.
According to the FIR, Bhogal has filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court last month seeking government takeover of BCCI.
He had alleged various irregularities under BCCI and that underworld was indirectly taking control. He had named underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim and Iqbal Kaskar in his petition. The next date of hearing in the matter is on August 14.
