Couture queen reveals more on fashion

She made heads turn with her bold wardrobe choices at the Festival de Cannes last month. But Sonam Kapoor has long been Bollywood’s daring fashionista. In interviews, she comes across as well informed on the most wanted dresses and accessories in fashion capitals, and has admitted to collecting vintage garments as one would perhaps collect jewellery.As for her films, she is known for her careful selection of roles and has Mausam and Players coming up. It was like one big platform and the most amazing thing was, I could just take in the experience, without any pressure of being there for a film,” says Sonam, continuing, “It’s brilliant (being the brand ambassador for IIJW). It’s a nice way to promote Indian designers who are so good at what they do. A lot of jewellery houses abroad use Indian artisans to make their jewellery.”Hits and missesSonam is one actress with little or no regrets. “I did Thank You because I wanted to work with Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar. I’m very happy with what I’ve done,” she says.Item-numberlessWhen Katrina has Sheila Ki Jawani and Deepika, Dum Maro Dum, Sonam is still batting a zero on the item number front. “I haven’t been offered anything (item song). I don’t think people look at me doing an item number. Maybe after a few years,” says Sonam.Politics“Rahul Gandhi and Sachin Pilot are the contemporary politicians I admire. Because ours is predominantly a youth-dominated country, I think having a young leader is very important,” she opines.Inspiration“My mother (Sunita Kapoor) is more stylish than dad (Anil Kapoor).”To shopaholics“Anamika Khanna, Manish Malhotra, Abu Sandeep and Sabyasachi (Mukherjee) make beautiful Indian clothes. As for vintage shopping, as soon as you buy something, please dry-clean it before you wear it.”Being sexy“Being confident with who you are is sexy. I think Kareena Kapoor is more sexy than anyone else. Bebo can wear anything and look hot,” Sonam says.
