BANGALORE: The Legislative Council gave approval for the supplementary budget worth Rs 6177.70 crore for the year 2011-12, which was passed in the Lower House.Moving the appropriation bill 2012, chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who also holds finance portfolio defended seeking an additional of over Rs 6177 crore to meet the capital expenditure of Rs 2382 crore for several payments in the financial year 2011-12.Meanwhile, JD(S) floor leader M C Nanaiah advised the government to avoid seeking extra money for non-committed reasons. “Karnataka has a track record of maintaining strict financial discipline.”Opposition Leader Motamma and JD(S) member Neeravari, too, spoke on the issue.
