BANGALORE: The North East division police conducted raids on the houses of about 200 history-sheeters and habitual offenders on Sunday.Teams led by the division’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr G Ramesh, ACPs Chandrakanth and Gacchinakatti started the raids at 5 am and it continued till 11 am.The teams comprised police inspectors and other staff as well.“About 300 houses belonging to 50 rowdies and 150 habitual offenders were raided.They were brought to police stations and their photographs were taken.Also, information about their recent meetings with their associates, phone numbers, vehicle details and residential addresses were collected,” the police explained.Later, they were taken to the parade ground near Yelahanka police station and were warned to give up criminal activities and lead a normal life.Those who were involved in more crimes in the recent times were booked under various cases while others were let free.Minor Girl Forced into Prostitution RescuedThe Amruthahalli police arrested four persons and rescued a 17-year-old minor girl who was forced into prostitution.The accused have been identified as Vishnu, Ashwin, Rohit and Yatish, all aged between 20-25 years and natives of Kerala.The other accused in the case, Shashidhar, who is said to have forced the girl into prostitution, escaped.Police said based on the tip-off that prostitution was going on at a rented house in Yelahanka New Town, they raided the house on Sunday.Investigation revealed the girl was a minor.She was subjected to medical examination.“As the girl is a minor, we have booked a rape case against the arrested persons.Mobile phones and `3,000 cash have been seized,” police added.Man Robbed by Auto Driver, His AideAn auto driver and his friend allegedly robbed a businessman from Maharastra at Jnanabharathi Police Station limits on Saturday morning.The victim, Ramesh is a native of Shimoga settled in Kollapur (Maharastara).He had come to meet his friend and had hired an auto rickshaw to reach Girinagar from Majestic on Saturday morning.Meanwhile the auto driver, who came to know that he is an outsider, planned to rob him after calling his friend on the way.Ramesh was taken to an isolated spot near Tavarekere.He and his friend robbed Ramesh of his valuables after thrashing him and fled away.Two gold rings and `70,000 cash were robbed by the miscreants.Ramesh, who was also injured was shifted to a nearby hospital.The police are on a look out for the miscreants.Woman Ends Life Over Property IssueA 23-year-old BBM student committed suicide by hanging at her residence in BEML Layout near Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Saturday night.The deceased, Nagaveni, a native of Anchepalya (Bidadi), was working at Sub-registrar’s office at Kengeri.According to the police, the incident came to light on Sunday morning.Nagaveni, who was staying alone hung herself to the fan.She had gone to her native place on Saturday morning and quarrelled with her brother Manjunath over a property issue.After returning home, she called her friend and told her that was going to end her life.Immediately, her friend informed Nagaveni’s family, who in turn, informed the police early morning.Police, rushed to her house and found her body hanging from the ceiling.The police suspect that she has taken this extreme step over a property dispute.
