THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sivagiri Action Council has announced that they will stage a dharna and fast at Sivagiri on Sunday in protest against Swamy Rithambarananda’s alleged move of granting permission to a private channel to conduct cookery show at Samadhi Mandiram of Sree Narayana Guru on ‘Chathayam day’.Swamy Vidyananda of Sivagiri accused that the distribution of ‘payasam’ as offering in front of Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Mandiram was part of a larger conspiracy to revive the social evils that were proscribed by the Guru. If the intention of the channel people were innocent, then they could have selected another location for the shoot,he opined.Asked whether the current agitations were the outcome of a factional feud between the seers of the abbey, he declined to comment but maintained that all activities going on in the ashram cannot be justified.Sivagiri Action Council general secretary Vavara Ambalam Surendran, Ezhava-Dalit Seva Samithi chairman K Ramankutty and general secretary Kanjikkampara Surendran also attended the press meet.
