BANGALORE: The Congress party will convene the first meeting of its newly constituted Executive Committee (EC) of its state unit on August 20 to chalk out the next course of its agitation programme. Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G Parameshwar informed that, the EC would discuss about the recent political developments, fiscal position of the state, issues of land acquisition and others and arrive at a conclusion on working out a new strategy to fight against misgovernance and corruption in the BJP-led state government.Referring to the controversy over piloting a legislation on the Lokpal Bill, the KPCC president said that the UPA government is likely to take a final decision on the issue and said that the Congress would abide by it.Criticising the BJP, Parameshwar challenged the saffron party to come clear on its stand on the issue. “The BJP is beating around the bush and is only intent on deriving political mileage from the issue,” he said. “An issue which ought to be decided in the Lok Sabha,  a democratic platform, has been taken to the streets.”He informed that the KPCC has started eliciting opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of the party’s organisation at the grassroots with its leaders in Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary and Yadgir districts of the state.
