In a bid to create an independent corpus for the welfare of cows, the Haryana Gau Sewa Ayog has asked the state government to impose an additional 5% tax on cinema tickets and divert 50% of donations from government managed temples.
The commission for the welfare of cows has sent the proposal to the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and has reportedly demanded that a charge of rupees 2,100 be levied at the time of booking a banquet hall for a function.
The Harayana government has already approved a 300-strong task force of cops under an IPS officer for the welfare of the cows.
The commission itself has two dozen members, including the state DGP and eight senior IAS officers.
Earlier, 20 crore annual corpus to develop 'cow sanctuaries' or modern gaushalas with all facilities was approved by the Khattar government.
