THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has opined that the void created by demise of CPI leader C K Chandrappan could not be easily filled.  Speaking at the commemoration meeting held here on Saturday, he said Chandrappan’s demise was a big loss for the  Left movement as a whole.‘’Comrade Chandrappan  was a leader who understood the importance of Left unity’’ he said. He advised CPI leaders to work unitedly to fill the void left by Chandrappan.  He said Chandrappan’s life as a communist was one which should be emulated. He recalled that though he had a long-standing acquaintance with the late leader, it was after the latter’s return from New Delhi that he got sufficient opportunity to have close dealings with him.  Pinarayi said while being a part of a coalition it was natural that there could be difference of opinion on certain issues.  However, following detailed discussions with the late CPI leader he could amicably sort out the issues. Chandrappan was a contribution of the CPI state unit to national politics, Pinarayi said. Pannian Ravindran presided. C Divakaran,  RSP national secretary T J Chandrachoodan,  K Surendran Pillai, Kadannapally Ramachandran,  M Vijayakumar and BJP district president Karamana Jayan spoke. CPI district secretary Venjarammoodu Sasi welcomed the gathering.
