THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Neyyattinkara is set for an interesting triangular fight with BJP veteran O Rajagopal emerging on Friday as the party’s most likely candidate for the upcoming by-poll. The official announcement is expected shortly, party leaders said. Rajagopal told reporters here that the political situation was favourable for a BJP win in Neyyattinkara. On his candidature, he said that he follow the party directive.BJP state general secretary K Surendran said that the twin questions of ‘credibility’ and ‘political morality’ will be core issues in the Neyytinkara by-poll. The BJP candidate will be a person who reflects these qualities, he said. While LDF has declared F Lawrence as its candidate, R Selvaraj, whose resignation as CPM MLA had prompted the by-poll, is all set to be the UDF candidate.Top state leaders M T Ramesh and P K Krishnadas held talks with Rajagopal on Friday morning. As far as the BJP is concerned, the 83-year-old Rajagopal is a strong bet as his acceptability with the people goes beyond that of a mere BJP man. The BJP had fielded Rajagopal in Nemom in the 2011 Assembly elections, but he lost to CPM’s V Sivankutty by 6,415 votes.
