THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some leaders in the UDF and the LDF undermined the consensus reached between Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 1979 to build a new dam in Mullapperiyar in return for hefty rewards, alleges senior BJP leader O Rajagopal at a press conference here on Thursday. These leaders now possess grape farms and coconut plantations they got as reward, he alleged. Demanding a detailed inquiry into the secret deals which undermined the consensus, Rajagopal extended full support to the Opposition Leader’s attempt in collecting details about leaders who own land near Tamil Nadu border.“It has to be brought to light who stood in the way of that consensus. Some political dealings took place which undermined the consensus for building a new dam,” he said.
