Bihar CM Nitish Kumar says that police officers need to be bold and honest as portrayed in the film Shiva.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed the need of honest and bold police officers as epitomised in Ram Gopal Verma’s latest flick Shiva.

After attending the special premiere of the movie, Nitish was all in praise for Ram Gopal Verma, who has earlier given hard-hitting and true to life films including Satya, Company and Sarkar.

"He (Ram Gopal Verma) has portrayed in the film whatever is happening in society. It is a fact that a part of society is corrupt, but still characters like Shiva are also coming out. I want only Shiva’s in our police,” Nitish told newsmen.

Nitish who watched the film along with his state’s senior police officials agreed that if a situation like that exist in the state, “police officers like Shiva must be there, who can work for the welfare of the people and protect the law without any fear.”

Lauding Producer-Director Verma for the theme of the film, Nitish said that reality has been portrayed effectively on celluloid and thanked him for selecting Patna for the screening of the film.

Shiva is the remake of Verma’s debut film which also had the same title and featured Telugu superstar Nagarjuna.

While his debut film portrayed a young college going student, taking law into his hands to teach the goons a lesson, the new Shiva featuring Mohit Ahlawat is a story of an honest police officer who fights for justice.

"Shiva is a film about a common man who has to deal with a corrupt system on a daily basis," Verma said that much like his earlier film where the difference has been the change in the protagonist’s profile.

While Ahlawat plays a young cop rebelling against the corrupt police department, the female lead, Nisha Kothari is depicted as a news reporter in the movie who falls in love with the policeman.
