The weather situation of Bengaluru improved after the city witnessed intermittent rainfall over the past few days. Following rains, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru for Wednesday, signifying the possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by strong gusts of wind.

Notably, several parts of the city witnessed waterlogging following the torrential rainfall. Dozens of trees succumbed to the powerful gusts, their branches littering the streets.

Following the situation, the Bengaluru Traffic Police also issued guidelines for the commuters regarding the waterlogging issues in the city to ease the traffic woes.

The weather forecast for Bengaluru has predicted rainfall and cloudy days for the next few days. On May 8, the city will see temperatures between 21 and 35 degrees Celsius, with a partly cloudy sky and one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The trend is likely to continue on May 9, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 36 degrees Celsius. From May 10 to May 13, temperatures will remain between 23 and 38 degrees Celsius, with cloudy skies and light rain expected.

Bengaluru Faced Driest April In 41 Years

The rainfall brought a major relief for Bengaluru residents as the city, for the first time in the last 41 years, faced its driest April. The city known for its charming climate last month faced an unusually hot summer. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru did not record any rainfall in April, marking the first such instance since 1983.

Facing its driest April in the last four decades, Bengaluru recorded 0 mm of rainfall during the month. The city last recorded rainfall of around 106.6 mm in November 2023 and since then no notable rainfall was recorded last month causing rise in the temperature.

With the mercury touching 38.5 degrees Celsius, Bengaluru witnessed its second-hottest day in at least 50 years in April. The hottest day was recorded in April 2016 at 39.2 degrees Celsius.
