Banks told to enhance technology

KOCHI: Inaugurating the seminar on ‘The role of the banks in the development of Kochi’, Ernakulam District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth has asked the banks to strengthen their technology for the speedy approval of funds to meet the growing needs of infrastructural development of Greater Kochi.The bank employees should also be given proper training. The programme was organised by the Bankers Club, Greater Kochi.“Cochin International Airport was a successful model for the public-private participation where the consortium of the banks played a crucial role. The same cooperation is required  from the banks to make projects like Kochi Metro Rail a reality,” said Sheik Pareeth. Peter Sebastian, Bankers Club Greater Kochi president, presided over the function. K U Balakrishnan, Bankers Club Greater Kochi Secretary, Abraham Thariyan, South Indian Bank executive director and L R R Warrier, president, State Forum of Bankers Club spoke.
