Bangalore: A week after a college student lodged a case of sexual harassment on the Bangalore metro, the police remain clueless about the identity of the culprits.
CCTV footage showed four young men hounding a girl inside the metro train. Her attempts to get help from security guards went in vain as they did not come forward to help her.
She even changed her seat and sought the help of another lady commuter, but the harassment did not stop. She later lodged a police complaint.
Though the footage clearly showed the image of the four men, there are no clues on their identity. The police said they are drawing a blank in the absence of any other leads like names or possible location. They have launched a manhunt, distributed pictures of the four men through pamphlets and posters, but are yet to get a lead.
The police response to the case was lukewarm initially, as it was a non-cognisable offence. However, they have intensified their investigation after social media campaigns to bring the men to book.
Metro officials said they have put out fresh guidelines on women's safety, on improving response system of their guards to problems faced by women commuters.
