BANGALORE: A one-and-ahalf- year-old baby seated on the parapet on the ninth floor of an apartment had a fatal fall in Panduranganagar off Bannerghatta Road at around 9.15 am on Monday.As was her usual practice, Amrutha Kashyap, hailing from Gujarat, was feeding her son Arman Kashyap while showing him the sights below through the passage window of the Adarsh Rhythm apartments.Arman was seated on the parapet and Amrutha had put an arm around him as support.Suddenly, as the food bowl slipped from her hand, she instinctively tried to pick it up and took her hand off the baby.In a fraction of a second, Arman fell from the parapet and hit against a projection on the eighth floor before falling to the ground.The windows had no grills, and police said despite being advised, most residents in the building had objected to fixing grills to their windows.Arman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead, police officials said.Kashyap was the second child to Amrutha and Vishal Kashyap, who is a software engineer. The couple have a three-year-old daughter.They own a flat on the ninth floor of C Block at the apartment building.According to the police, Vishal had left for work in the morning and his daughter was inside the house when the incident occurred.The body of the baby boy was taken to KIMS Hospital for autopsy.J P Nagar police have registered a case.
