GULBARGA: A youth lay on a bed of nails for more than an hour here on Sunday as a mark of protest against what he described as 'inaction' of the Union government in amending Article 371 of the Constitution.Kannada Jagruti Vedike president Devendra Desai Kallur staged the protest in front of the statue of Sardar Patel in the city.The bed was prepared with 12 kg of nails.Delhi chalo stir in AugustMeanwhile, Hyderabad-Karnataka Horata Samiti (HKHS) said it will launch a 'Delhi chalo' agitation in August to exert pressure on the Centre to amend the Article 371 of the Constitution.Samiti president Vaijinath Patil said on Sunday that the forum will not wait any longer for launching an agitation against the Union government. The former minister said that the Delhi chalo agitation will coincide with the monsoon session of the Parliament.More than 2,000 activists from Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Koppal and Raichur districts will participate in the agitation, he said.The chief minister has already promised to participate in the protest and the Samiti will invite him to join in the sitin.All the literary figures from the region, various organisations fighting for this cause and leaders of all political parties will be invited to join the agitation, Patil said.Earlier, veteran dalit leader Shivram Mogha inaugurated a new office of the Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samiti and launched a membership drive.Freedom fighter Vidyadhar Guruji and MSIL chairman Vikram Patil were present on the occasion.
