New Delhi: The long-rumoured Apple's next-generation iPad, dubbed iPad 5, and the successor to the iPad Mini are expected to include significantly improved cameras, as claimed by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. While the current models have a 5 megapixel sensor, the upcoming iPads may come with an 8 megapixel sensor and a larger aperture for better photography, said a report from MacRumors.
Speculations are rife that the new Apple iPads may include the new software-based camera features that Apple came up with the iPhone 5s, like the slow-motion shooting capability.
While the iPad 5 is rumoured to be launched on October 15, the company is unlikely to widely roll out a new version of the iPad Mini with a high-resolution "retina" display this month, people who work in the company's supply chain said.
Given the time required to ramp up screen production, a retina display-equipped iPad Mini would not be available in large volumes until early next year, the sources said.
The sources expected Apple to either wait until early next year for a full-fledged launch of a retina display iPad Mini, or to make a retina version only available in limited quantities before the end of the year.
It remains unclear exactly what new features and modifications could find their way into the next iPad Mini, which the sources said was earlier due to be unveiled this month.
Reportedly, the upcoming iPad 5 will be 2 millimetres shorter and 15 millimetres narrower than its predecessor. It could also be lighter and about 2 millimetres thinner.
