The low sex ratio in the state is considered as one of the prime reasons for the rising rape cases in Haryana.
Rewari: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man at Dhani Mehaniawas village, seven km from Dharuhera, police said on Friday. The culprit, who was working as a mason, took the girl to a field on Thursday to commit the crime.
He was, however, overpowered by some women when he tried to flee, said police. The women later handed him over to the police. A case of rape was registered after the victim was medically examined.
Haryana has witnessed more than 20 rape cases in the past one month. The low sex ratio in the state is considered as one of the prime reasons for the rising rape cases in Haryana. As per the Census 2011, the sex ratio of Haryana is 877 females per 1000 males.
