Days after being criticised for her unexpected ‘appearance’ at the opening march of the Olympics, the lady in red Madhura Nagendra publicly apologised for her ‘error of judgement.’ She claimed that she got carried away by ‘thousands of enthusiasts cheering.’
However, she denied breach of security from her part. “I apologise to my countrymen and to the athletes of this country who have done us all proud. It was a small mistake on my part and a complete error of judgment. I did not mean any harm. I was just very happy to be there,” she said.
‘No Breach of Security’
Addressing the media, she continued, “I was selected as part of the dance troupe after three rounds of elimination. I am a proud Indian and if I’ve hurt some sentiments, I would like to apologise. However, I should say: I did not breach security, I cleared all the security checks.” Speaking in her favour, Madhura’s parents said people should put her mistake behind and let her move on in life. On the other hand, her friends revealed that she had always been an enthusiastic, bordering on limelight.
Her Father’s Take:
“I feel very sorry for my daughter’s act because it has hurt many people,” her father K Nagendra said.
Madhura, who has returned to India after completing her Masters in Finance in the UK, said she has big dreams and wants to do something in her country.
‘Taken Aback’
Despite of her apology, netizens have severely cristicised Madhura on various social networking sites. She said she was hurt by the reactions of people on various social networking websites and was taken aback by the harsh criticism that have come her way.
